Some states add a number of their own to the door, or a letter after the USDOT number, and most decal shops have never heard of them. California's CA number, the state carrier numbers issued by Illinois, Pennsylvania, Colorado, South Carolina, West Virginia, Nevada, Washington, Hawaii, Alabama, New Mexico, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia and Arkansas, and the USDOT state suffixes used by North Carolina, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa and Wyoming each have a listing here, cut to the format the state's rule names and verified against the statute or regulation it comes from. New Jersey's name-plus-municipality rule and New York City's commercial vehicle lettering are here too, as are Florida's farm name-and-city set, the farm-use decal and California's TCP permit number for limo and shuttle operators. Pick your state with the filter below. Each listing says who the number is for, how it reads on the door and what else that state requires alongside it, with the citation, and every state's rules are on its USDOT decals page.
