The New Jersey marking most out-of-state shops have never heard of: owner name plus municipality in 3 inch letters, with the GVWR line for heavier trucks, cut as a matched set for both sides.
What New Jersey requires
Every vehicle used for commercial purposes on a New Jersey street or highway — except passenger automobiles and certain pharmacy vehicles — must conspicuously display the name of the owner, lessee or lessor and the name of the municipality where that owner, lessee or lessor has its principal place of business. The sign must be in plain view and not less than three inches high. It applies regardless of weight, so a pickup or cargo van used for business is covered. Franchised public utilities and fleets of 50 or more commercial vehicles may substitute a corporate identification number for the municipality.
Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating or combined GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more that are registered or principally garaged in New Jersey must also display the GVWR, in the same manner.
