What Iowa requires
Iowa requires a motor vehicle to be clearly marked before it is placed in service. Intrastate-only carriers display the motor carrier's name and the U.S. DOT number followed by the letters IA — USDOT 1234567 IA — on each side, large enough to be easily read at 50 feet and in a color that contrasts with the background. The marking may be painted on or be a removable device that is securely placed on each side.
