Pick the length

The length is how far your lettering runs along the trailer, not the length of the trailer. Each letter is about 0.8 times as wide as it is tall, so count the letters and spaces in your name:

• 12 letters at 24 in tall: about 19 ft (pick 24 ft)
• 12 letters at 36 in tall: about 29 ft (pick 32 ft)
• 12 letters at 44 in tall: about 35 ft (pick 40 ft)

The sizing card in the photos has more examples. If your name needs a different length than the one you picked, the proof shows it and we sort out the difference before anything is cut.

Letter height

Tell us the height you want in the box, or leave it blank and we size the name to fill the panel. Most fleets run the name 24 to 36 in tall and the second line 8 to 12 in. The tallest we cut is 44 in, measured from the top to the bottom of the tallest letter.

Font

Block, Condensed, Impact, Bold Serif, Brush Script, Elegant Script, Rounded or Typewriter. Name it in the box, or send your logo and we match it.

Laid out around your trailer

• Reflective tape: trailers this size carry red and white conspicuity tape along the sides (49 CFR 393.11). We lay the lettering out so it never covers it.
• Rivets and seams: send a straight-on photo of the side and we place the letters between rivet lines where we can. Where letters cross rivets, the install takes a heat gun and a rivet brush. Instructions are included.
• Rear doors are not included. Unit numbers and How's My Driving decals are separate listings, cut in the same font.

The straight answer

A dry van or reefer doesn't need a USDOT number. The federal marking rule (49 CFR 390.21) covers the power unit, so your name and USDOT go on the tractor. Trailer lettering is advertising. Install

Lettering this size is a two-person job, and a sign installer will do it fastest. Every set ships with hinge-method instructions, and the numbered sections plus the layout sheet mean nobody has to guess.
