Why quotes vary 10x
You're paying for some mix of: design time, vinyl grade (calendared vs cast — cast lasts years longer outdoors), weeding and taping labor, and installation. A local shop's $250 door includes a person applying it. Mail-order decals arrive weeded, taped, and ready to squeegee on yourself in five minutes — that's the price gap.
Where cheap goes wrong
Bargain listings often ship intermediate vinyl that fades in a year, print gray "black," or size the number too small to pass the 50-foot test. Compliance lettering is the last place to save $6 — a marking violation costs more than the decal set.
