What's actually required? Federal rule 49 CFR §390.21 requires your legal or trade name and USDOT number on both sides of the power unit. The MC number is not a federal marking requirement — many carriers add it anyway (some states, brokers and shippers ask for it), and GVW/GVWR is a state-level requirement in some states. Application (about 15 minutes)

1. Plan your layout — company name on top, numbers below is standard
2. Clean and dry each surface
3. Tape one edge, peel the backing, squeegee from the center out
4. Remove the transfer tape at a sharp angle
5. Repeat for each piece, keeping spacing even
