The federal marking rule
Federal law (49 CFR §390.21) requires the carrier name and USDOT number on both sides of the power unit, in a color that contrasts sharply with the background, legible from 50 feet in daylight. 2" is our standard starting size for most trucks and vans; larger trucks may need taller lettering.
