Federal FMCSA rules apply to commercial carriers in every state, including Kentucky. Your USDOT number must be:

- Kentucky is unusual: the intrastate number is displayed as your USDOT number with the letters KY after it — for example USDOT 1234567 KY — alongside your carrier name, cut to the same legibility standard as the federal marking rule. KYU (the weight-distance tax licence, generally 60,000 lbs and over) is a separate credential and is NOT a door decal.
