Federal FMCSA rules apply to commercial carriers in every state, including Ohio. Your USDOT number must be:
- Displayed on both sides of the power unit
- In a color that contrasts sharply with the vehicle

Passenger triggers follow the same split (9+ for hire, 16+ private), and placard-level hazmat requires markings at any weight either way.

Do I need a USDOT number in Ohio?
