What we cut for California carriers

Serving trucking across California

We ship to owner-operators, contractors, and fleets throughout California — including Los Angeles, Long Beach, Sacramento and Fresno — with a 1–2 business day turnaround. Every decal is cut on commercial-grade outdoor vinyl rated for 5+ years, weeded, taped, and ready to peel and stick.

What California actually requires

Most decal sites quote the federal number and stop there. This is California's own intrastate rule, read from the primary source and dated — the same data behind our free compliance checker.

California requires its carrier identification number displayed on both sides — but displaying your valid USDOT number satisfies the law (CVC 34507.5(f)(1)), and you must hold a USDOT number to get the CA number anyway. Industry practice (and our recommendation): display both lines — 'USDOT #######' over 'CA ######'. Triggers: trucks over 10,000 lbs, or hauling property for compensation at any weight. Exemptions include pickups in noncommercial/private light use, implements of husbandry, and historical vehicles (CVC 34507.5(e)).

California DOT decal FAQ

Do I need a USDOT number in California?

If you operate a commercial vehicle over 10,001 lbs, haul hazardous materials, or carry passengers for hire, federal law requires a USDOT number displayed on both sides of the vehicle — and many California intrastate carriers need one too. We cut yours exactly as it should read.

What size do USDOT decals have to be?

FMCSA’s actual standard is legibility — readable from 50 feet in daylight, in a color that contrasts sharply with your truck, with “USDOT” shown before the number. Two-inch letters are the industry floor that reliably clears that bar, and some states set their own minimum on top of the federal rule. We cut 2″ by default and also cut 3″ and 4″ for larger trucks.

How fast can you ship decals to California?

We make every order in 1–2 business days and ship nationwide, so most California carriers have their decals in hand within a few days. Everything arrives weeded, taped, and ready to apply.

Can you match California's requirements?

Yes. Tell us your state and vehicle at checkout and we cut to your California intrastate spec. Not sure what you need? Message us — 20 years in vehicle graphics means we'll get it right.
